Sous contrat à la Warner Bros, il joue dans le Masque de Dimitrios (J. Negulesco, 1944), où il incarne un insaisissable génie du mal. Après avoir été l'Homme du Sud (J. Renoir, 1945), il trouve son terrain d'élection dans le mélodrame noir, composant une série de personnages maléfiques ou névrosés : l'amant pervers de Joan Crawford dans le Roman de Mildred Pierce (M. Curtiz, id.), un requin de Wall Street dans l'Impitoyable (E. G. Ulmer, 1948), le veule sénateur manipulé par Sydney Greenstreet dans le Boulevard des passions (Curtiz, 1949). Relégué au second plan dans des films d'aventures plus modestes, il y campe de suaves canailles (les Révoltés de la « Claire-Louise », J. Tourneur, 1953 ; la Femme du hasard, E. Ludwig, 1955 ; Bandido Caballero, R. Fleischer, 1956). Avant de se retirer, il fut dirigé par L. Buñuel dans une de ses meilleures créations, celle du garde-chasse de la Jeune Fille (1961).

Après des études d'architecture et au Centro Sperimentale de Rome, il débute en 1938 avec les décors somptueux de Ettore Fieramosca (A. Blasetti), en collaboration avec Mirko Vucetich. Il se spécialise dans les films historiques et crée les décors pour de nombreux films, dont Torna, caro ideal ! (G. Brignone, 1939), Fedora (C. Mastrocinque, 1942), I nostri sogni (V. Cottafavi, 1943), la Chartreuse de Parme (Christian-Jaque, 1947, en CO avec J. D'Eaubonne), L'uomo dal guanto grigio (C. Mastrocinque, 1949), Paolo e Francesca (Raffaello Matarazzo, 1950), Fra Diavolo (M. Soldati, id.), Légion étrangère (Legione straniera, Basilio Franchina, 1953), Une fille nommée Madeleine (A. SCOTTI (Tino)
acteur italien (Milan 1905 - Tarquinia 1984).
Très actif dans le théâtre de revues et à la radio, puis, à partir de 1960, dans le théâtre classique, Scotti paraît au cinéma en 1940 en interprétant des personnages comiques auxquels il donne sa silhouette à la Charlot et son visage très mobile. Sous la direction de Mattoli, il joue notamment aux côtés de Macario et d'Aldo Fabrizi (Non me lo dire !, 1940 ; Il pirata sono io !, id. ; L'ultima carrozzella, 1943). Après la guerre, il participe à de nombreux films réalisés par Steno, Monicelli, Vittorio Metz, Marcello Marchesi, Marino Girolami, Mattoli, Sergio Grieco, Anton, etc. Au cours des années 70, il a tenu un rôle dans la Stratégie de l'araignée (B. Bertolucci, 1970), les Clowns (F. Fellini, id.), Todo modo (E. Petri, 1976).

compositeur français (Marseille 1876 - Paris 1952).
Auteur de nombreuses chansons populaires à succès (Ma Tonkinoise), et d'opérettes dont certaines ont été portées à l'écran (Au pays du soleil, Robert Peguy, 1933, et Maurice de Canonge, 1951), il a écrit également la musique ensoleillée et plaisante d'une cinquantaine de films. Fidèle à Marcel Pagnol, il a travaillé sous sa direction pour le Gendre de M. Poirier (1933), Jofroi (id., qu'il a aussi interprété avec un talent certain), Angèle (1934), Merlusse (1935), Cigalon (id.), César (1936), la Femme du boulanger (1938) et la Fille du puisatier (1940). Il a composé la musique d'autres films produits et/ou adaptés par Pagnol : Fanny (M. Allégret, 1932), l'Agonie des aigles (R. Richebé, 1933), Monsieur Brotonneau (A. Esway, 1939), Naïs (Raymond Leboursier, 1945). Enfin, il a collaboré à : l'Homme du jour (J. Duvivier, 1937), Pépé le Moko (id., id.), les Cadets de l'océan (J. Un faux air d'Audrey Hepburn et un charme considérable qui apparaissait dès la Méridienne (Jean-Claude Amiguet, 1988), tourné en Suisse ; son très léger accent britannique ne gâchait rien. Depuis, le cinéma a gagné une comédienne sensible et séduisante, à l'aise aussi bien dans le film d'auteur (Un été inoubliable, L.
