Cassius Clay, février 1964

« Je n'ai peur de rien, sauf de Dieu »

Cassius Clay, le 25 février 1964. Après le championnat du monde de boxe.

« I’m not scared of nothing, but God. What am I scared of ? Why in hell, all of a sudden, excuse the expression, a car load of men can be coming from New York to get somebody, and you can’t go get them ? What kind of law is this here in America ? The world is watching you. You make a fool out of yourself, picking on a clean, righteous man like me and hauling about. What did you come to tell me they’re coming to get me for ? Why don’t you go on the highway and stop them ? I’m not scared of you and you run the country. What am I scared about some old people for ? »

Traduction :
Pourquoi êtes-vous venus me dire qu'ils arrivaient pour me prendre ? »
