Ecclésiastique et écrivain anglais (Cove, Suffolk, 1495-Canterbury 1563).

Converti au protestantisme, il devint un redoutable pamphlétaire. Animateur de tournées théâtrales antimonastiques, il transforma les « moralités » en drames historiques (King John, The Three Laws of Nature, Moses and Christ, 1562).
